Back-track, oops! The day after Christmas we and some friends met up at Paharpur, also called Somapura Mahavihara. It’s a Buddhist vihara which was started by Emperor Dharmapala during his reign from 770-810 AD and it was destroyed in the 11th Century. Though it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site, the upkeep of the ruins is minimal. It looks rather like a small hill from the distance. But it’s a wonderful place to walk and picnic especially during the winter.
