Several years ago, my sister Dawn started to try to keep the Sabbath. We all watched her learning how to have alone-time, friend-time, worship-time. My other sisters began to make Sunday a homework free day. I started to plan and freeze meals ahead of the day off. A recent revelation as we explore Sabbathing is that a day off gives us a wonderful time to be creative. Jacob has works on his handmade instruments. I write. We make crafts with the kids. Those unimportant fun projects (which actually are very important to one’s mental health) slowly get completed. That’s what we call rest and fun.
