When we arrived at Sirikhola, Shumon said, “Is this it?” Three buildings on the banks of a river — limited electricity, water supply straight from the river, a very small menu, but very peaceful.

The trekkers who mean business usually just stop at Sirikhola for lunch, or at most a quick night’s sleep.

Our hotel had a tiny store which had trekker supplies — like peanuts, chocolate and even tuna fish!

Paul, Jacob and Shumon took a hike up a nearby mountain and were gifted by this view.

After the walk, they braved the river for a bath.

Paul won the contest of swimming the most.
