Taara and David came for a visit and we took them to the river for a walk. The part of the river nearest to us is not as scenic as farther up the river, but it’s still nice to get some fresh air. The Padma River, as the Ganges River is called in Bangladesh, is just about a ten minute rickshaw ride from our house.

The last governor built up the walls along the banks of the river to stop erosion and protect people’s houses.

Around where we walked the wall came to an end– and this area did suffer flooding. The last time we were talking in this area, those shacks were flooded by two or three feet of water.

The river might be polluted, but there are still fish! Actually today for lunch we had dried fish from this river.

It was such a hot day!
